Barbara Hoogeweegen is a London-based, Dutch artist, whose work expands on several contemporary themes examining human behavior.
Hoogeweegen graduated with a masters in Fine Art from the City and Guild School of Fine Art in London. Employing several techniques and mediums in her practice, she predominantly uses oil on canvas, board and aluminum to create vibrant and saturated works.

Hoogeweegen’s practice explores a variety of subjects, often inspired by personal photographs and found images, she navigates the intersection between the visceral and the photographic. Her collection entitled ‘Face’,showcases the connection and disconnection between people online,exploring the various ways we express our emotions and present ourselves. Bridgeman Editions is delighted to have collaborated on the print production of, ‘Face 27’ (2012), from this series. Originally created with oil on primed aluminum, the works captures solitude, featuring a girl painted alone with her back turned, creating a sense of reflection and isolation.

Hoogeweegen has exhibited at several renowned galleries and museums, such as at the Long & Ryle Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts. She has appeared in a a number of private collections, including, Johnnie Boden, George Osborne and author, Andrew Solomon. Barbara’s work can be found on numerous book covers as a favorite cover artist of Penguin Random House. In 2018, Hoogeweegen was shortlisted for the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, as well as the Wells Art Contemporary Awards in 2019.
Her involvement in the 'Portraits for NHS Heroes' initiative, which launched in 2020, honors the relentless efforts of NHS workers by encouraging artists to create portraits celebrating their contributions.
Bridgeman Editions presents a collection of prints by Hoogewegen, including ‘Face 27’ (2012), ‘Electric Dreams’ (2018), ‘Dare’ (2018) and ‘There are no wasted days’ (2023). Each print is produced on Hahnemühle German etching paper, available framed and unframed.
